Organs are not instruments that one would expect to see on a touring bill, but that is exactly what touring organist Cameron Carpenter has set out to change as he brings his International Touring Organ to the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall.

Known for his eccentric approach to musical interpretation, Carpenter felt the need to reinvent his beloved instrument, while making it more accessible to modern-day audiences. From this dream the International Touring Organ was built, using sampled sounds from traditional pipe organs, ranging from cathedrals to Wurlitzers.

Carpenter has toured to worldwide acclaim, performing a repertoire that is broad in taste, while combining the contemporary and historical in a way that has yet to be seen on the stages of the Sydney Opera House. Luckily for fans, Carpenter has been announced to close the 2015 Utzon Music Series.

Carpenter and his organ will take to the stage on Thursday Novermber 12, with tickets on sale Monday September 14.
