Acclaimed European photographer Elger Esser is coming to Australia for a project and is having some of his works on display.

The Dominik Mersch Gallery in Rushcutters Bay will be host to some of the German’s work. Esser uses landscapes and often with derelict and abandoned human-made structures. Esser engages with bleak colour palettes and long shots to explore disassociation, austerity and associated grim issues. He’s also travelling to Australia to finish up his ‘Australian Journal’ project, and plans to document lighthouses and shipwrecks around Australia. No word yet on whether Esser plans to extend the shipwreck metaphor by photographing Shane Watson’s batting performances.

Elger Esser’s New Works will be hosted by the Dominik Mersch Gallery in between Thursday March 5 and Saturday April 4.
