One of the greatest plays of the 20th Century, Bertold Brecht’sMother Courage and Her Children, will play at The Belvoir Theatre this June and July.

Mother Courage is an epic play that was inspired by Brecht’s frustrations at the rise of Fascism in Germany at the beginning of The Second World War. The play was written largely in response to Germany’s invasion of Poland in 1939.

It follows Anna Fierling AKA Mother Courage as she endeavours to make a profit from the Thirty Years’ War of 1618-1648.

The deeply unsettling title character will be played by the renowned Robyn Nevin, who is certain to bring even more intrigue to the role.

Directed by Eamon Flack,Mother Courage and Her Children will unsettle and horrify, and force its audience to question who really wins in war.

Mother Courage and Her Children will play at the Belvoir Street Theatre from Saturday June 6 – Sunday July 26.
