This coming Monday, Mars One candidate Josh Richardswill enter a solitary purpose-built ‘HAB’ at Circular Quay.

Hopingto embark on aone-way mission to Mars in 2025, the wannabe Martianwill remain in the HAB for five days, without showering facilities.

The haboursidemission will include a series of survival tasks to test his mettle, asset by a team of experts and scientists including John Connolly, Head of NASA’s Human Mars Mission Planning, andKen Silburn,recipient of the 2015 Prime Minister’s Prize for Excellence in Science Teaching. They’ll mirror the experiences by Hollywood’s own astronaut Matt Damon in recent filmThe Martian.

The observers and the public will be able to view Richards 24 hours a day directly through a glass exterior or via a live feed. There will also be free public events outside the HAB throughout the week, including free NASA Bagels from The Bagel Shop on Wednesday and a yoga session on Thursday.

Potatoes are not included.
