In a era when cinema attendance is at its lowest rate ever, it’s nice to see that despite the gloom there is still enough demand to open up a great new location for checking out new releases on the big screen.

Palace Cinemas, already located at Norton Street, Leichhardt and Oxford Street, Paddington, is set to open a new ten-screen cinema in Double Bay.

“We’re thrilled to be bringing a state-of-the-art cinema to Double Bay and doing our part to help revitalise the local arts scene in this fantastic Sydney suburb, said Benjamin Zeccola, Palace Cinemas’ CEO.

The Double Bay location on Cross Street will stay true to the Palace tradition, screening international film festivals and classic cinema from across the world. Palace will confirm its expected 2017/18 opening date as plans are finalised.

Verona Palace Cinema will also get a revamp with all existing seats to be replaced by new, luxurious seats by December 2016.
