Debby Doesn’t Do It For Free is an intergenerational sex worker art collective inspired by the ’70s porn film Debby Does Dallas, and formed in 2002 as a celebration and homage to sex work.

The collective’s art honours sex workers of the past and celebrates those in the present. Each artist is given a ‘Debby’ moniker for confidentiality and privacy. As Deep-Dish Debby, one such artist, explains, “they are a way of expressing our own sex worker culture safely, seriously, and playfully.”

In the 20th year of decriminalisation of sex work, Debby Doesn’t Do It For Free will be exhibiting at Tap Gallery in Darlinghurst this year. The exhibit will feature both old and new works and will launch on International Whores Day. As well as creative pieces, there will also be an “Ask a hooker a question” booth.

The free exhibition will be a loud and proud display of sex worker art and culture in Australia.

Debby Doesn’t Do It For Free will be exhibiting at Tap Gallery in Darlinghurst from Tuesday June 2 – Saturday June 6.
