Forget about The X Factor. Forget about The Voice. (Already forgotten about Australian Idol). There is a new player in town, and they got game.

Sydneyvision: Sydney’s version of the internationally loved Eurovision. Now in its seventh year, the Sydneyvision Song Contest will be stepping back into the heart of Sydney to host its annual grand final extravaganza. Be prepared, be amazed! This music video contest is garunteed to bring out an incredibly diverse selection of songs and film-making genres. Fun fact: All songs must refer to a Sydney suburb in the lyrics – so keep your ears and eyes out.

In honour of this wonderous occasion and magical evening at the Dendy Opera Quays, entrants must also refer to something they consider to be ‘iconic’. Lucky we Aussies got a lot of iconic things round here, eh? Of the 14 fantabulous finalists you can expect a program ranging from ukulele ballads to anti-lockout anthems (f*ck yeah) to the straight-out bizarre. DIY Rainbow’s James Breko Brechney will be your host for the evening, so expect sequins and good times.

Take a night on the town and go see this. Please, I beg of you.

Held at the Dendy Opera Quays on Wednesday August 31 at 6:30 pm. Tickets now on sale at the box office and online for $20. For more info and tickets, click here.
