Alexandria’s prestigious Studios 301 – the longest running and largest recording studio in the Southern Hemisphere– has been acquired by Abbey Road Institute Australia, with intentions to open a music school.

The Mitchell Road studio will still cater for recording artists, but will also host a full-timeMusic Production and Sound Engineering program.

Since its establishment in 1926, the studio has seen the likes of Coldplay, Lady Gaga, U2, David Bowie, Prince, Elton John, Bob Dylan, INXS and Midnight Oil pass through its doors, to name a few.

“We are thrilled to be involved in the next chapter of the Studios 301 journey,” said Abbey Road CEO Paul Ledingham. “Our team continues to be 100 per cent committed to seeing 301 evolve to meet the needs of the 21st century music industry.
