St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival, one of the highlights on the Australian summer festival program, will be back in 2017 –and it looks like the first artist on the lineup has just revealed herself.

In her cover interview with the BRAG this week, East London soul/electronic singerNaosaid she’s been approached to appear on the Laneway bill this summer.

“I think that I’ve been asked to do Laneway Festival in Australia, and that is really exciting for me,” she said.

“My band and I never thought we’d get this far, to be touring or have the opportunity to come out to Australia, and I’ve just got to find the money [laughs], but I think we’ll be coming out in January.”

Nao, bornNeo Jessica Joshua, certainly fits the profile of a Laneway act, with a career trajectory on the rise and appearances this year at Glastonbury, Pitchfork in Chicago and Field Day in her native London. BBC Music included Nao in third place on its ‘Sound Of 2016’ list, which was topped by Jack Garratt.
